BILLING PHILOSOPHY
Reduced Costs, Flexible Fees, High-Quality Representation
Most employers have experienced the high hourly rates charged by law firms. A recent study estimated that the average hourly rate for a New York labor and employment attorney was $413. A substantial portion of that cost is associated with law firms' overhead expenses, such as office space, utilities, health insurance, and partner profits.
Dier Law is different. There is no office space to rent and power. There is only one employee. There aren't any partner profits to distribute. This difference allows Dier Law to charge clients hourly rates more than 45% less than the State average. Small and medium-sized businesses deserve to receive top-quality representation at a reasonable fee. They do not deserve to pay for a law firm's expenses that are not directly related to the legal representation they receive.
Dier Law also believes in using alternative fee arrangements (ARAs) in place of, or in conjunction with, hourly rates when beneficial to both parties. Examples of ARAs include flat fees, contingency fees, or a combination of those options and hourly rates. ARAs can result in a more effective attorney-client relationship because the risks and rewards are more evenly shared by both sides. Each matter is reviewed independently and different fee options will be discussed with the client.
